Portrait of a friend

Trying to finesse my ink wash technique. I accidentally used too dark of a wash on the left reflection, then everything else became too dark also.

What different ways could I look at myself?

My former art professor says I would benefit more from self-portraits. But I couldn't resist one last celebrity drawing.

Who does she look like?

I tried to edit the image with GIMP- but it looks like I still need practice.
